Delta Spirit- "People Turn Around"

It’s a long road, son, he says
And I wonder, if this is it,
If strife is a synonym for life,
If you ascend to the plateau of the mountain,
Only to see another mountain before you,
I ask myself, is this it?
You got the heart of Superman, but you are missing the bulletproof pelvis he says,
You can’t save the world, but you can fix a tiny part of it,
Only to break your back in the process,
You sympathize with Atlas, as you feel your grip beginning to slip,
Shake it off, kid, that’s what life is, work, work, work, die.
You wonder how you can move mountains,
If you only got a mustard seed.
I concede, yes, it is a long road,
But there is strength in pain, there is solace in seeing the storm,
And not backing down,
There is redemption in takin’ a few, and yelling,
“Is that all you got?”
Though we drudge through the swamp,
We see the footprints in the mud and find comfort,
Because we know we are not alone,
We gotta lifeline,
You see Pandora dump her box on your head,
You tremble,
But you see that Hope is stored there too, He winks at you, tells you it’ll be fine,
Your masts are broke, sails are strewn,
Supplies are low,
Boat’s a leak,
But that lighthouse tells you, you are close,
And warns you,
It’s a rocky finish,
But when you dig in your feet,
Stand your ground,
Don’t give in to the elements,
To Wind and Rain who have a bet as to which can displace you first,
When you can shout louder than Thunder can roar,
“I CAN ENDURE THIS, I WALK ON SOLID GROUND!”
It is when all things fade, besides that one hope,
That one thing you concentrate all thoughts upon,
It is in that instance, that you realize you will be defeated,
You will succumb to Death, because he’s got your number,
But you grin, and your heart is glad,
You know you will rise again,
For you stand like a city on a hill,
Built upon rock, and shining, seen for miles,
And fortified with an inscription on the entablature,
I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
And then you see the sun rise,
And dispel night.
Smile, the rain stopped.
You fought, the good fight,
Well done, good and faithful servant.
